Published on 16 February 2017 by | 0 Comments |

If you're looking for unique US experiences that your children will rave about for the rest of their lives, simply continue reading to discover 10 amazing things to do with your kids in the US.

  • Explore the Smithsonian Museum, the largest, kid friendly museum, in the world

If your children are a fan of the film "Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Museum", they'll love having the opportunity to tour the child friendly museum for themselves.

The Smithsonian Museum is a highly interactive museum which gives little ones the opportunity to try on traditional clothes from around the world and to feel the skin of crocodile. The Smithsonian also boasts an 80 foot dinosaur skeleton and a giant prehistoric shark.

  • Teach your little ones how to ice skate at The Rink at Rockefeller Center

If you happen to be New York City during winter, ensure to take your family to The Rink at Rockefeller Center, where you can teach your little ones how to skate, under the bright lights of NYC. Just keep in mind that general admission skating is available on a first come, first served basis. So it pays to arrive at Rockefeller Center earlier in the evening.

  • Cheer on a local team at an "All American" sports match

As an example, your children may love the experience of attending a MLB baseball match. Even if your children are too young to be entertained by a sports match they'll love people watching and sitting in the stands of a giant stadium. Your children will also love the entertainment on offer and may enjoy getting to sample traditional sports fare such as an American hot dog or a buffalo wing.

Before the match starts, why not stop by a merchandise stand to get your little ones there very own cap or t-shirt as a souvenir of your US family getaway?

  • Experience the magic of Disneyland or Disneyworld

Why not purchase your little ones an autograph book and watch their faces light up as they spend an afternoon collecting the autographs of their favorite Disney characters. Disneyland and Disneyworld also offer a wide variety of family friendly rides such as "Pirates of the Caribbean", "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad" and "Dumbo the Flying Elephant". The latter of which can be ridden by parents with babies or toddlers. If your little ones love the movie "Cars", they'll also love Cars Land which is located at Disney's California Adventure.

  • Visit San Diego Zoo Safari Park

If you visit San Diego Zoo Safari Park, it's well worth booking a Caravan Safari experience. During your two hour safari experience your family will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of African and Asian animals. Examples of which include giraffes, elephants, rhinoceroses and lions.

San Diego Zoo Safari Park also offers a variety of interactive playgrounds. As an example, your kids will enjoy climbing the Samburu Jungle Gym, which is a safari themed playground. If you visit during California's warm summer months, your children are also bound to enjoy cooling down in the Savanna Cool Zone, which boasts plenty of sprinklers.

  • Navigate your way through a corn maze as a family

One way to spend quality time together as a family is to visit a corn maze. As an example, Connor's Farm, a family run farm in Massachusetts, has offered annual corn mazes since 1904. In 2016, Connor's Farm created a maze that was inspired by the classic comic strip Peanuts, which featured everyone's favorite beagle Snoopy and his loyal friend Charlie Brown.

No matter what states you plan on visiting, you shouldn't have any trouble finding a kid friendly corn maze. However, if you visit the US out of season, when all of the corn fields have been harvested, don't worry! The US still offers a multitude of traditional hedge mazes, which can be explored all year long.

  • Camp in a National Park

Did you know that most of the US' National Parks boast their very own campsites. As an example, why not pitch a tent at one of Yellowstone National Park's well equipped campsites. If your children are old enough, they'll love helping you put up your family tent. During the day, you'll be able to embark on family hikes and when the sun goes down you'll be able to roast marshmallows and make smores.

If you plan on traveling during summer, just ensure to book a camp site well in advance, as some campsites book out several weeks in advance.

  • Visit the Kennedy Space Center

If your kids are fascinated by space, they're bound to fall in love with the Kennedy Space Center. The Kennedy Space Center gives future astronauts the opportunity to use a high tech, astronaut training simulator. Your kids will even have the ability to try and land their shuttle at the Kennedy Space Shuttle Landing Facility.

Whilst touring the Kennedy Space Center, you'll also get a close up view of a variety of rockets from NASA's Apollo, Gemini and Mercury programs. If you plan your trip carefully, you may even have the chance to view a real life rocket launch!

  • Visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, is located at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Florida and is the perfect place to take your Harry Potter obsessed kids. Your little wizards and witches will have the time of their life, riding the Hogwarts Express and exploring Diagon Alley. They'll even get a chance to pick out their very own wand. Best of all, you'll get to explore Hogwarts' famous castle.

  • Visit the Cherokee Museum in North Carolina

If you want to expose your children to a new culture, you may want to consider planning a trip to the Cherokee Musuem in North Carolina. The Cherokee Museum, is an interactive museum which boasts a living Oconaluftee Indian Village, where you'll witness villages in traditional dress building canoes and participating in traditional cultural performances. You'll even have the opportunity to see how Cherokee warriors prepared themselves for war.
