Family Information:

Hi there. We lived in Tokyo from 2001 to 2013, when we left our desk jobs, pulled the kids out of local schools and started slow traveling full time. 2 years in Southeast Asia, now based in Valencia Spain. Kids were homeschooled before, but now going to local Spanish schools.

:::::::::::Old Profile (circa 2013) here ::::::::::::::::::

Keiko and I met when we were both elementary school teachers in my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. That was the late '90s, which according to my internal body clock was around 150 years ago. I had an itch to travel so I picked up and left, and Keiko followed me a year later. We spent a few years in Taiwan, and then in 2001 we moved to Tokyo, where we lived until September, 2013 when this trip began. Our kids were both born in Tokyo, and have led the lives of Tokyo kids until we left Japan's safe, supple womb for Southeast Asia and beyond. Jamie — 10y/o at time of writing (Nov 2013) — is an aspiring athlete and is always looking for kids who are ready to hustle with him. Felicia (7y/o) is a budding artist and dreamer who is happy to draw, dance or sing under just about any circumstances.

Life was great in Tokyo: it's an incredible city and an excellent placeto explore with kids, but Japanese corporate culture simply didn't allow us enough family time, so we decided to drop out of our desk jobs and hit the road. I continue to work remotely for a Japanese company and write freelance for kicks, while Keiko is presently taking a well-deserved break from our past salaryman lifestyle. We both homeschool the kids in English and Japanese, but at the moment we're making it up as we go, searching for the right balance of work, education and travel. We all hope to find freinds and kindred spirits along the way, work, weather and time permitting.
