Mum - A mother of three obsessed with travel. After selling my travel business many years ago the obsession with travel continued. A 10 year hiatus from the travel industry had me itching to re enter the world of the travel professional once again.
I discovered ten years had changed the industry immensely. The internet and the accessible aspect of constant information from the world wide web had made the job unfulfilling for me. Constant price matching became the name of the day rather than the true experience of travel.
My husband and I had spent the last 15 years traveling the world with our kids in tow. I want to share that experience and more through a narrative medium rather than be a price matching booking source.
My goal is to show my children and every family out there that travel is an important source of education. Allowing adults and children alike to broaden the mind and enrich lives with discovering new cultures and places.
My obsession with travel has taken us to all corners of the globe. Our belief is travel goes hand in hand with the education a school can give. Anyone can go anywhere, you’re never too young or too old.
The fam has finally agreed to one year of continuous travel...the planning begins. Exciting times!
Dad - John is the patriarch of the pack. The one that feeds the money machine to make it all happen. Without his entrepreneurship we wouldn’t have the opportunity to venture to far-flung places like Siberia or central China.
He has traveled independently to remote locations like Papua New Guinea and Angola. He is happy to follow my lead and allow the other half to take him on the next traveling path.
Thomas - The most well-travelled of the bunch, having visited over 40 countries by the time he was 14 years old. Thomas acclimatised to the life of traveling very early on. His first trip was at the tender age of 5 months old. Not that he remembers much from those days. But he was happiest in a pouch with a dummy in mouth. He learnt to sleep everywhere, prams, beds, under tables, when it was timr for nappervile it was time.
Now at the know it all age of 18 years, this well travelled man is ready to embark on his university days. A path of International Relations and languages is the plan.
I wonder if our travels had anything to do with that?
Lucas - Lucas was the most resistant to the turmoil of travel. The one who whined and complained everytime he was told we were about to embark on another trip.
“Why do we have to go away again? I want to stay home!.”
As this young man has grown he has aquired a love of history and is our resident food obsessive. Ready to give any food a go, he is now a lover of Durian and foie gras.
He is now ready and waiting for the next adventure to come.
Allanah - Allanah is the the go getter, can’t stop me now member of this family. Ready for anything, if we’re all tired she’ll be the instigator and ready to rev everyone up to move!
As she’s told me many times she simply loves being on a plane. The longer the plane ride the better. As our home base is Australia she considers a 6 hour plan journey way to short. Traveling for more than 14 hours is Allanah’s cup of tea.
Born to be on the road she loves discovering new places and swimming is as many hotel pools as possible. The resident chef of the family, a cooking class in a foreign place is always high on the list of fun things to do.
