Family Information:

Who are we?

An Anglo-Franco alliance; Jon (Dad), Tania (Maman) and our three boys, Oskar, Luca and Mateo. We're currently living in the UK near Oxford.

WhatÂ’s this all about?

Well, we've decided to sell the house, take the kids out of school, and embark upon a journey. Eight months in South East Asia starting in Indonesia and then going on to Malaysia, Southern Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Burma, Northern Thailand and finally Singapore. The trip will involve the highs, lows, experiences, sights and thoughts of all of us as we start out on our journey for mind, body and spirit.

Why are we doing this?

Its was Tania's idea! And to her surprise, I agreed.

I mean, what a fantastic opportunity for us all. To get away from our humdrum existence and savour the delicacies that the world has to offer. We get so bogged down by our comfortable lives, surrounded by consumerism. We encounter materialism at every turn and measure ourselves against each other with our possessions as our currency and wealth. Nothing highlights this state of affairs more than when your children begin not to value what they have and assume that if they break or lose something that its ok as Mummy and Daddy will buy them another one!

So, apart from the opportunity to travel and experience the world, we want to drop the trappings of western society and live our lives with the bare minimum of stuff so we can all begin to realise that happiness isn't about the size of the TV or having the latest iPhone.

This sounds very fanciful and new age, I know. But we make no apologies for wanting to change the way we live and experience the world day to day.
